Twickel is a unique historic country estate in Twente and offers excellent opportunities for a day out. The estate covers no less than 4,100 hectares. In the park forest with its centuries-old oaks, streams and hedgerows, but also on the rolling fields, meadows and heaths, you will find beautiful paths for cycling and walking. Also visit the famous gardens that surround Twickel Castle and the kitchen garden. The ideal starting or finishing point for your activity is our Visitor Centre and the Estate Shop.

Tenants and Farmsteads
In addition to the castle, the estate encompasses 4,400 hectares of land with farms, houses, and other buildings. Twickel Estate has approximately 164 tenant farmsteads (farmsteads). These farmsteads are part of the estate, which encompasses a diverse landscape of fields, forests, and heathland. Twickel Estate is known for its small-scale, rolling, and unspoiled cultural landscape, with hedgerows and winding paths. These farmsteads are recognizable by their characteristic black-and-white shutters.
